The only utensils you will need can be accessed in your own kitchen, which are:
With a spoon, grind the matcha powder through the strainer to remove clumps of powder sticking together. This helps to reduce the amount of clumps in the latte.
Add some milk to only 1/4 of the cup or enough to cover the dry mixture then mix vigorously with the spoon until the matcha powder and sugar has been completely dissolved. Make sure to check there are no sediments at the bottom of the cup.
Pour more milk into the cup and with a couple stirs as well as the option of adding ice cubes, it is now ready to be served!
- A cup
- A tea strainer that can be placed over the cup (one with tinier holes is preferable)
- A spoon
And as for the ingredients to make this delicious latte, you will need:
- Matcha green tea powder (can be found at your local Asian grocery store at a reasonable price)
Tip: check for "Product of Japan" for quality matcha powder |
- Granulated white sugar
- 2% milk
- Ice cubes (optional)
Instructions:
Place the tea strainer over the cup and carefully pour the matcha powder into the tea strainer.
Once all the matcha powder is in the cup, set the strainer aside and add 1-2 tablespoon(s) of sugar to the cup then mix both dry ingredients together with the spoon. This helps to dissolve the matcha powder in the latte.
Give this recipe a try! It may take a few trials by increasing or reducing the amount of matcha powder and sugar to suit your taste. Wonder Woman and I prefer tasting the matcha flavour without being overpowered by the sweetness of the sugar so I always tend to use more matcha powder and less sugar as possible, which is more health-conscious especially if we drink more than one cup!
